| | blah | ] | It's been a while since I last posted, so I thought I'd at least create a Christmas post, so...
Merry Christmas! I took today off work, but had a neck/headache for most of the day, pah! Sod's law I guess. |

| 64bit progress |

| | accomplished | ] | Hurrah, solved the Firefox problem by installing the 32bit version of the Firefox RPM (along with some required Gnome packages, of which I didn't have 32bit versions).
So, I've one less 64bit app, but at least now I can use the Flash plugin, yay!
Neck is a bit better today...
[Edit] Installed the 32bit Thunderbird too, and that fixes Enigmail. |

| Long time no post |

| | grumpy | ] | Aye, it's been a while since I last posted. I've not had much interesting to say really.
Bit miserable at the moment, as I've had an on-off (mostly on) neckache since Saturday...really getting on my nerves.
On Monday I wiped my work Linux machine to put an x86_64 version of Fedora Core 4 on it. Mostly OK, except I've got problems with logging in to gdm, and I'm just starting to find the issues of having a 64 bit system.
So far that's to do with having a 64bit version of Firefox, which means I need 64bit plugins/extensions...except there's no 64bit Flash player...boo!
I wonder if it's time for more painkillers yet... |

| Speaker schmeaker |

| | hopeful | ] | Well, I'd thought one of the front speakers in our living room was terminal, but after some fiddling last night I think/hope it's not as bad as all that.
Pulled the speaker apart and found a loose terminal on the woofer...so, tightened that and put it back together. While everything is pulled apart I thought I'd fit banana plugs I bought ages ago, but ran out of time to do that last night.
So, some more fighting with the absurdly thick speaker cable to make more copper available to shove in the plugs and hopefully it'll all be fixed. |

| More curry mixes |

| | ditzy | ] | Went to York today, and we bought two more spice mixes from Rafi's Spicebox. This time we bought a Thai Yellow Curry, and a Dhansak. Think we'll cook the Dhansak on Sunday.
On the way out of town managed to show how living in York as a teenager doesn't give you brilliant knowledge of the roads! Got lost quite a bit and ended up driving past the race course just as the meet was finishing. Lots of toffs (and all other sorts) marauding and treating the road like pavement...amazing how a bit of alcohol makes people forget about all road sense.
Oh well, made it out of York in the end, was just a little scenic. :) |

| Yummy curry |

| | satisfied | ] | Cooked a yummy Malaysian curry this evening made from a spice kit bought from a shop in York, Rafi's Spice Box.
The kit consists of a little foil container with curry paste and other bits like chilies, cloves, cardamons, kaffir lime leaves etc.
We've had two of their kits so far, and both have been very nice. I'd recommend them highly and they do them by mail order...
Edit:
We had the Malay Redang, which you can find on the others selection page on the Spicebox website. |
